The 2025 Holiday in Isigny-sur-Mer, France 4

 
Early in the morning, my husband went to 
our local bakery and bought
very nice croissants for breakfast.
My first nice French food on this holiday!

夫が早起きして近所のベーカリーに行って
朝食用の美味しいクロワッサンを
買ってきてくれた。
この旅行で初めての

美味しいフランスの食べ物！


On this day, we went to Forêt de Cerisy.
We brought our bikes to cycle in the forest.

この日はセリジー＝ラ＝フォレという森に行った。
自転車を持って行った。

There is a slow charger in
the visitors' centre's car park,
so we were able to charge our car
while doing our activities.

ビジターセンターの駐車場に
車の充電施設があるので、
森で過ごしている間に
充電することができた。


We got a map and some advice
at the visitors' centre,
and decided to follow a 
not very demanding cycle route.

ビジターセンターで地図とアドバイスをもらい、
あまり体力的に大変そうじゃないルートを
選んで自転車を走らせた。

And when we nearly finished the route,
we realised that Château de Balleroy is
only 3.5 km down the road.
We decided to continue to cycle there.

そのルートの終わりに近づいた時、
3.5km先にバルロワ城があることに気付き、
そのまま走り続けることにした。


We had sandwiches we had bought
at the nearby bakery for lunch,
and walk in the garden with Benji.

お城に行く前に買っておいたサンドウィッチを
お庭で食べ、それから
ベンジーと一緒に庭を少し散歩した。

Unfortunately, the castle was under repair
and couldn't see it at all.
And we didn't go inside the castle
as the guided tour was French only
and Benji wasn't allowed to walk in the castle.

残念なことにお城は修繕中で
外観を見ることができなかった。
また、中に入ることもしなかった。
ガイド付きで中に入れるのだが、
ガイドは全部フランス語のみで、
また、ベンジーはずっと抱っこしなければ
いけないと言われたので断念したのであった。

After the walk, we went to the tea room.
My husband had a crêpe, but I just had a coffee.

散歩の後お城のティールームで
夫はクレープを食べたが
私はサンドウィッチでお腹がいっぱいだったので
コーヒーだけ頂いた。

While driving home,
my husband noticed the bike carrying system
wasn't quite working.
We stopped, and took off my electric bike,
and put it inside the car.
He says he had to contact
the manufacturer of the bike carrier.

帰宅途中、トランクの後ろに積んでいる
自転車キャリアの様子がおかしいと夫が言い出した。
車を止め、二台のうち私の電動自転車を
車の中に入れ、何とか出発することができた。
夫は自転車キャリアのメーカーに
問い合わせるそうだ。


We were very lucky with the weather.
We weren't quite rained on while cycling,
but it started rain very heavily 
after we arrived home.

お天気に関しては幸運であった。
自転車で走っている間は雨は降らなかった。
帰宅してからものすごい豪雨になった。

In the morning, we decided to cycle to 
the centre of Isigny-sur-Mer.

午前中はイシニー＝シュル＝メールの
街中に自転車で行くことにした。

Of course Benji is coming with us.
もちろんベンジーも一緒に来る。

We cycled along the river Aure.
Aure川に沿って自転車で走った。

After lunch, we drove to a beach
in Grandcamp-Maisy.
We let Benji free in the
dog allowed area.

昼食後、グランカン・メジーの
ビーチまで車で出かけた。
犬も入れる浜辺で
ベンジーを走らせた。

My husband & Benji had a bit of swim
while I was sitting on the beach.
As I still haven't fully recovered from Covid,
I got a bit unwell, so we went home after that.

夫とベンジーは海で少し泳いだ。
私は浜辺に座ってそれを眺めていた。
しばらくそんな感じで過ごしていたのだが、
まだコロナから完治していない私は
だんだん疲れてきたので帰宅した。

On our way home, we went to a supermarket

and bought some food.

Ready-made pizza!!

Last night's dinner was pasta!!

We've been only eating

(not very nice) Italian food

since we arrived in France 😢

帰宅途中でスーパーに寄り、

夕飯用の食材を購入した。

出来合いのピザ！

昨晩の夕食は

簡単にできるパスタだった。

フランスに着いてから

（いまいち美味しくない）

簡単なイタリア料理ばかり食べている。

I want to eat nice French food....

早く美味しいフランス料理が食べたい...。

We arrived in Cherbourg with no problem. 

Our destination this time is Isigny-sur-Mer, 

only 45 minutes' drive from the port. 

Usually we break the journey in two 

and stop at La Roche-Bernard, 

but we didn't have to do it.

シェルブール港に無事に到着し、

今回の滞在先であるIsigny-sur-Merに向かう。

車で45分程度である。

例年はもっと遠いところに行くので

La Roche-Bernardのホテルで1泊するのだが、

今回はその必要はない。

We went to the bakery Marie Blachère,

which we had been to last year,

and bought sandwiches.

As we were carrying one kayak

and two bicycles, 

the car battery ran down very quickly,

we had the sandwiches while charging the car

at HippoWash.

昨年も行って場所もわかっていた

大手のベーカリーチェーンMarie Blachèreで

サンドウィッチを買い、

そして昨年も利用したシェルブールの

HippoWashで車の充電をしながら

サンドウィッチを食べた。

Then we briefly visited a small supermarket

to buy some groceries

and arrived at the house

we're going to stay for next 18 days.

その後、食材を買いにスーパーに寄り、

そしてこれから18日間過ごすことになる

民泊の家に到着した。

However, we created a problem.

When my husband left all the doors

of the ground floor open,

the front door slammed closed

and one of the glasses broke!!

しかしながら、初日から大失敗をしてしまった。

夫が1階のドアや窓を全部開け放っていたら

正面玄関のドアが風で閉まってしまい、

ドアのガラスの1枚が割れてしまったのである。

We apologised to the landlady,

and she was very kind and understanding.

However, I think we will pay her

for the repair cost.

家のオーナーの女性に謝ると

オーナーさんはとても理解のある方であった。

もちろん修理費用はちゃんと

支払うつもりである！！

After settling down,

we drove to the city centre.

荷物を全部片付けてから

車で街に行ってみた。

Even though I'm nor perfectly well yet,

I'll have a great time!

まだコロナから完治していないが、

楽しい時間を過ごしたい！

 It was a kind of miracle we were able to come to France now.

My father passed away 2 weeks previously, 

and I had to travel to Japan on short notice and 

deal with a lot of bureaucratic issues as my father was living alone.

今回フランス旅行に出発できたのはある意味奇跡だった。

父が出発予定日の2週間前に亡くなり、

私は大慌てで帰国し、お葬式と一人暮らしだった父の

色々な後片付けに大忙しであった。

I knew this might happen soon, but as was usual with him, 

he decided to go at the perfect timing for everybody around him, 

including me. 

He hated causing other people any trouble. 

I was scheduled to go away for holiday in August, 

and I was mentally prepared I may have to cancel the holiday, 

or go to Japan during the holiday. 

But my father made sure that wouldn't happen.

父が亡くなる少し前に父の弟である叔父から

「心の準備をしておくように」と警告されていた。

私は7月にも帰国し、意識がはっきりとしない父に

もうこれで最後になるだろうなと

覚悟をしてアイルランドに戻っていた。

父は他人に迷惑をかけるのを本当に嫌がった。

娘の私に対しても同様である。

その生き様を貫くように、

完璧なタイミングでこの世を去る

決意をしたようであった。

私の旅行直前であれば、

私は旅行を中止する覚悟はあったし、

旅行中であれば途中で

日本に行く覚悟もあった。

しかし父は娘の私に

そんなことをさせるはずはなかった。

また、父の一番下の妹も直前までお盆で

色々忙しかったのだが、

それが終わり自由になった時でもあった。

My husband came to Japan briefly joined me 

for Dad's funeral. 

He came all the way from Ireland to Osaka, 

so he wanted to go to Expo 25, 

which we did. It was very hot & crowded.

父のことを慕っていた夫はどうしてもお葬式に出たいと、

この極暑の中アイルランドから大阪に来てくれた。

そして短い滞在期間ではあったが、

せっかくなので万博に行きたいと言うので、

私は忙しい中少し時間を作って一緒に行った。

And unfortunately, my husband contracted Covid in Japan, 

and I got Covid via my husband😱

ところが、どうやら夫はそこでコロナに感染してしまった。

そして私も夫経由でコロナに感染してしまったのだ😱

I came back to Ireland on 22nd August, 

but we were scheduled to leave for Cherbourg on 26th. 

I almost had to give up going as I was very sick. 

But because of some kind of strange weather issues, 

the ferry to France on 26th was cancelled

and we had to book a ferry on another date. 

We were very very lucky to book 

the last remaining dog friendly cabin on 28th. 

It was a saving grace--I became well enough to travel by 28th.

私は8月22日にアイルランドに戻ってきた。

フランス旅行の出発日は26日である。

夫は比較的すぐに陰性になり仕事に復帰したが、

私は熱は下がらないし、体力はないし、

もう旅行は無理かと諦めていた。

そしたら24日にフェリー会社から連絡があり、

嵐のため26日のフェリーは運行休止になったと言う。

夫は大慌てで別の日のフェリーの犬も泊まれる客室を探し、

幸運なことに28日に一室空いていたので

予約することができた。

旅行期間は短くなったが、

私はその２日間で陰性になり、

何とか旅行できるくらいの体力を取り戻すことができた。

The ferry journey on 28th was a bit rough at first, 

but it calmed down. 

I was asleep most of the time any way 

because of the sea sickness tablet. 

I wasn't sleeping well since I was in Japan, 

so this was my first time to have a proper sleep for a long time. 

Also I was able to get my nails done on the ferry

--this is my routine on holiday.

28日のフェリー運行も、最初は少し波が荒くて揺れたが、

それも途中からおさまりスムーズに運行された。

私は酔い止めのおかげもあり、

ほとんどの時間を眠って過ごしていた。

日本にいる時もその後帰国してからも

眠れない日々が続いていたので、

本当に久しぶりにちゃんとした睡眠を取ることができた。

また、フェリーに乗るときにはいつも利用しているのだが、

ネイルサロンでキレイにマニキュアを塗ってもらうこともできた。
