The 2024 Holiday in Charente-Maritime, France 19

 Around at 4 am,

I was awaken by terrible nausea.

I didn't really vomit,

but the nausea lasted for a long time.

その翌朝午前４時ごろに

強い吐き気で目が覚めた。

吐くことはなかったが

この強い吐き気はかなり

長時間続いた。

I was not able to eat anything for breakfast.

朝食は全く食べることができなかった。

Maybe I ate too many mules😢

昨晩ムール貝を食べすぎたのかも😢

But I was able to go for a walk

in La Roche-Bernard

before our checkout.

でもホテルをチェックアウト

する前にラ・ロッシュ＝ベルナールを

散策することができた。

This is our tradition to

take a photo of our dogs here.

ここで犬の写真を撮るのは

恒例になっている。

We bought sandwiches for lunch

at a bakery, went back to the hotel,

and start our journey to Cherbourg.

昼食用のサンドウィッチを買い、

ホテルに戻り、

そしてチェックアウト後

シェルブール港に向かって出発した。

I wasn't able to eat the sandwich 

we had bought for lunch.

結局購入したサンドウィッチを

食べることはできなかった。

We dropped in Auchan Hypermarket

in Cherbourg as I wanted to buy

some saucepans I had discovered previously.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find them.

途中でハイパーマーケットの

Auchanに寄った。

前年に購入したノンスティックの

フライパンが気に入ったので

違うサイズのものも購入したかったの。

結局見つけることができず、

何も買わなかった。

We arrived safely in Cherbourg,

went for a short walk at the beach

before going on the ferry.

その後シェルブールに無事到着し、

フェリーに乗る前に

港の近くの浜辺を散歩した。

I wasn't able to eat anything on the ferry.

My husband ate the sandwich

I couldn't eat.

私はフェリー内でも

何も食べることができなかった。

夫は私が食べられなかった

昼食用のサンドウィッチを

晩御飯に食べた。

I was very worried about sea sickness,

but I was very tired and

kept sleeping most of the time.

元々船酔いをする方なので、

吐き気がひどくなるかもしれないと

心配であったが、

酔い止めのせいか

船内ではほとんどの時間を

眠って過ごした。

Wr arrived at Rosslare on time,

and took Benji out for a walk on the beach

just like on the first day of the holiday.

アイルランドのロスレア港には

時刻通りに到着し、

旅行の初日の時と同様に

ベンジーを浜辺で散歩させた。

On our way home from Rosslare,

when we were charging our car,

there were 3 Nissan Leafs

in the same colour

at the charging spot!

ロスレア港からの帰宅中、

車の充電に立ち寄った充電所に、

なんと同じ色の日産リーフが

三台勢揃いした！

We weren't luck with the weather

on this holiday,

but we had a great time nonetheless.

I'm grateful for the fact that

we could all go away and come back safely.

今回の旅行はお天気には

恵まれなかったが、

今年も犬と一緒に旅行でき、

無事に帰国できたことに感謝。

We started the day by cleaning

the house we had stayed for 

the past 2 weeks.

この日は

2週間お世話になった

家の掃除でスタート。

As we both worked very hard,

we were able to leave the house

about at 10.00 am.

 夫と協力して掃除に励んだので

予定より早く終わり、

午前10時ごろには

出発できた。

The journey went very smoothly,

including a picnic break for lunch,

and we arrived at 

La Roche-Bernard late afternoon.

車での移動はスムーズに行き、

また昼食のピクニックの

時間も取った後、

結構早い時間に

ラ・ロッシュ＝ベルナールに

到着した。

When we arrived at the hotel,

the landlord of the hotel was

harvesting grapes

from the vine trees

which were covering 

the front of the hotel.

ホテルに到着したら、

ホテルのご主人が

ホテル正面を覆っていた

ブドウの木から

ブドウを収穫しておられた。

After we checked in,

the landlady kindly brought us

some grapes.

チェックイン後、

奥さんがブドウを

持ってきてくださった。

Delicious!

美味しかった！

As the hotel restaurant was closed

on that day,

we went out for a meal.

ホテルのレストランは

その日は閉まっていたので、

夕食は外のレストランで食べた。

First, we brought our car 

to an EV charger.

We wanted to use a fast charger,

but it was occupied,

so we left the car, 

using the slow charger,

and walked to the restaurant.

まず、車を事前に調べておいた

充電設備に運転していった。

残念ながら目当ての急速充電は

使用中だったので、

車を普通充電に繋げて、

そのまま歩いて

レストランまで行った。

At a well we had never noticed,

though we had been in La Roche-Bernard

many times.

今までにラ・ロッシュ＝ベルナールには

何度も来ているが

ここに井戸があるのには

初めて気付いた。

At the restaurant.

レストランで。

My husband ordered oysters.

This is his first time to eat oysters

on this holiday.

I ordered mules,

as I cannot eat oysters.

夫はオイスターを注文。

今回の旅行では初オイスター。

私は牡蠣は食べられないので

ムール貝を注文。

A lot of mules were served,

and we both thought

they were a bit smaller than usual.

たくさんのムール貝が

運ばれてきた。

夫も私も少し小さいムール貝だとは

思った。

I got very full quickly,

but because of my greediness,

I finished them all!

すぐにお腹がいっぱいになったが

卑しい私は

頑張って全部食べた。

After the meal,

we walked back to the car,

and I drove back to the hotel

as my husband had had some alcohol.

食事の後は

車まで歩いて戻り、

アルコールを飲んでいた夫に代わり、

私がホテルまで運転した。

I could not update the blog on time

because of a combination of our journey home

and my health issue (I will explain later post).

しばらくの間ブログを

更新することができなかった。

帰国の旅と途中で発生した

軽い食あたりが原因である。

（これについては別の投稿で

触れることにします。）

We went to a restaurant 

in Fontaine de Lupin, called

L'Escale de Lupin.

フォンテーヌ＝ド＝ルパン

にあるレストラン

L'Escale de Lupinに行った。

We had been to Fontaine de Lupin

2 years ago and seen

the fancy restaurant back then.

この場所には2年前にも来た。

その時に良さそうなレストランが

あることにも気づいていた。

And we were able to book a table

for fancy Sunday lunch

on our last full day in 

Charente-Maritime.

シャラント＝マリティーム県での

最終日でのランチを

予約することができた。

My husband ordered

an egg dish called Œuf Parfait

for starter.

Egg boiled at a low temperature.

夫はウフ・パルフェという

卵を低温で調理したものを

スターターに注文した。

温泉卵に近いかも。

I ordered boeuf tataki for main.

私はメインに

牛肉のたたきを注文した。

Everything, including the dessert,

was tasty.

I really took to the French way of

cooking their potatoes.

デザートを含めて

全部美味しかった。

特にフランスでの

ジャガイモ料理はすごく美味。

Benji behaved very well, too.

He was quiet most of the time

(apart from when my husband

left the table to go to the toilet😅).

ベンジーも静かにして

とても良い子でした。

（夫がトイレに行くために

席を立った時を除いては😅）

After the meal,

we went out for a short walk

in Fontaine de Lupin

食事の後

フォンテーヌ＝ド＝ルパンを

少し散策した。

in Fouras.

フラの灯台みたいなもの。

We moved to 

Le Port-des-Barques

and relaxed for a while.

それから

ル・ポール・デ・バルクの浜辺

に移動して

ゆっくりと過ごした。

We came back to Rochefort town

to finish our unfinished agendas--

some Geocaching for my husband,

and a cafe visit for me.

色々やり残したことをやり遂げるため、

再びロシュフォールにやってきた。

夫はジオキャッシング、

私はお気に入りのカフェに行くことだ。

We encountered a Japanese spitz!

It was a Dutch Japanese spitz.

Sadly I forgot to ask for a name.

日本スピッツに遭遇！

飼い主さんはオランダ人であった。

残念なことに

名前を聞き忘れてしまった。

There was a posh wedding

at the city hall with

a lot of classic cars.

クラシックカーを使用した

オシャレな結婚式が

市庁舎で行われていた。

And I finally made it to this cafe!

We were there 2 years ago,

and I loved it so much so that

I had to come back.

やっとこのカフェに戻ってきた！

2年前にも来たのだが、

とても気に入ったので

絶対にもう１度来たかったのだ。

To my surprise,

that was exactly 2 years ago.

We didn't know this

until I checked the photo.

すごい偶然だが

ちょうど2年前だった。

スマホの写真をチェックするまで

そのことに気付かなかった。

And I achieved 2 more goals today.

One is to eat a nice mille-feuille.

I spotted a lovely looking a mille-feuille

in this patisserie,

and it was absolutely delicious.

今日は私の野望をその後2つ

叶えることができた。

そのうちの1つは

美味しいミルフィーユを食べること。

こちらの店で見つけたミルフィーユ。

とても美味しくて大満足！

Another one is,

to buy a tacky souvenir from

Charente-Maritime.

I found this in Hyper U.

もう1つは、

シャラント＝マリティーム県の

ダサいお土産用の

まな板を買うこと。

Hyper Uで見つけた。

I saw this in the house we are staying,

and somehow I liked it😅

滞在している家にあるのだが、

なぜだか気に入ってしまったのだ😅

I also bought a tacky oven glove.

また、ダサいお土産用の

鍋つかみも購入。

And the weather was very nice.

また、いいお天気でありがたかった。

We had lunch at the same place

as last week,

but it was a very different experience.

昼食には先週と

同じ場所で食べたのだが、

晴れてて本当に気持ちよかった。

Our holiday in France is coming near the end.

And we had a beautiful sunny day today

(it was not hot, though).

今回のフランス旅行も

終わりに近づいている。

今日は初めて1日中いいお天気に

恵まれた（寒かったが）。

In the morning, we cycled around Rochefort.

(Benji had to stay at home.)

今朝はロッシュフォー周辺を

自転車で回った

（ベンジーはお留守番）。

As there was something wrong with

the saddle of the bike I was using,

we went to a Hypermarket

near the Transporter Bridge,

hoping that it might have a 

bicycle maintenance area.

But there wasn't....

私が乗っていた自転車のサドルが

ゆるくて走行しにくかったので、

運搬橋の近くにあるハイパーマーケット

に寄ってみた。

スーパーによっては無料で

自転車のメンテナンスができる

ところがあるからだ。

残念ながら

このスーパーにはなかった。

After we cycled home,

my husband went out

kayaking on the canal again.

First time on his own,

second time with Benji.

そのまま帰宅した後、

夫は再び運河でカヤック遊びを

始めた。

1度目は一人で、

2度目はベンジーを

連れて行った。

We had lunch, and

we set off for another hypermarket.

I had a hair salon appointment there.

I drove this time.

昼食後、

別のハイパーマーケットに行った。

そこの美容院に私は予約を

入れてあったからだ。

私が運転して行った。

I had great difficulty in

communicating in French.

But the staff at the hair salon

were very kind and understanding.

I was really touched by

their kindness.

We tried Google translating,

but it didn't work very well😅

私がフランス語が

できないので

美容師さんたちの

会話に非常に苦労した。

Google翻訳も使ってみたが

あまり役に立たなかった😅

でも美容院のスタッフさんたちは

本当に優しくて申し訳なかった。

The result.

美容院に行った後。

It was less than half price of Ireland.

I'm very happy with the outcome.

値段はアイルランドの半額以下で

美容師さんたちも本当に優しくて

大満足だ。

ありがとうございました。


I reunited with my husband

who was doing Geocaching with Benji

while I was at the hair salon.

We had to go to the vet for Benji

to do some required processes

for bringing him back to Ireland.

私が美容院にいる間

ベンジーとジオキャッシングを

していた夫と合流した。

そのハイパーマーケットの敷地内にある

獣医に行く必要があったからだ。

ベンジーはフランスから

アイルランドに戻るために

色々と飲む薬があるのだ。

We had nearly an hour before

the vet appointment,

so we drove to nearby MacDonald's,

and had some cold drinks.

獣医の予約時間まで

1時間ほどあったので、

近くのマクドナルドに行き、

冷たい飲み物を飲んで過ごした。

This is the vet.

We encountered Benji's body double

in front of the vet.

獣医の真ん前で

ベンジーによく似た犬に遭遇した。

I'm so glad the weather has improved.

お天気が良くなって本当に嬉しい。
